Rambleforce - the unique Salesforce networking event

This weekend I had the pleasure of returning for the second edition of Rambleforce - a unique networking event in the UK’s Lake District built around a shared interest in the outdoors and the Salesforce platform.

Organised by Lee and Theresa Durrant of Resource on Demand - a Salesforce-focused recruitment agency, the event was started last year.

Lee and Theresa moved to the Lake District during Covid and quickly realised it provided an ideal destination for bringing the Salesforce community together.

Around 30 ramblers joined - from some of the biggest customers with multiple orgs, to those getting ready to take their first certifications.

Over two days we were guided on some wonderful walks, involving some cold water swimming for the brave, and culminating at the top of Loughrigg above Ambleside on Sunday.

What I loved about the format is that over the weekend there is plenty of time to get to speak to everyone in the group.

Although I’d been last year and knew around half of the ramblers, it was lovely to meet new people and learn about their paths through the Salesforce ecosystem.

I’m not a natural networker.

I don’t think I’m unusual - most people cringe when they think of networking.

But doing it while you are walking takes all the cringe out of it - you can talk about the view, the sheep, or the cave you just walked past and the conversation flows freely.

The event coincided with Amblefest, ensuring plenty of good food and local drinks were on hand after each day on this hills!

Whilst I’m not directly involved in implementing Salesforce, I found it very useful to understand what others are experiencing and how they perceive the role of Revenue Operations in their own companies or the projects they are working on.

At the top of one hill we held an impromptu explanation of my Org Chart playing cards which was enjoyable!

If you are interested in coming along next year, the best advice is to follow the LinkedIn page and you’ll see updates throughout the year.

There may well be a couple of shorter one day walks in between now and next year as well.

I’ll see you on the hills!
